Frame Tent Structure — How It Works
A frame tent consists of two main components: the aluminum or steel framework, and the PVC fabric canopy. The framework is assembled on the ground using a bolt-together or pin-connect system — horizontal ridge beams connect to vertical wall uprights, diagonal bracing adds lateral rigidity, and the complete assembled frame is self-supporting before the fabric is attached.
Once the frame is standing, the PVC canopy is pulled over the top and attached to the frame perimeter using integrated tension fittings. Sidewall panels are clipped to the frame uprights and tensioned at base level. The completed structure stands independently — no central poles, no ground pegging for the structure itself, no external guy ropes. Ground anchoring is still required (ballast weights on hard surfaces, stakes on soft ground), but the tent’s structural integrity does not depend on this anchoring in the way that peg and pole designs do.
The modular bay system means frame tents can be extended in length simply by adding additional bays. A 6×6 meter tent becomes a 6×9 or 6×12 by adding one or two bays respectively. All the fabric, hardware, and accessories are consistent across bay sizes within the same width series.

Who Buys Frame Tents in Dubai
- Event hire companies: Frame tents form the core inventory of professional event hire operations — they work across the widest range of event types and venues.
- Wedding and hospitality operators: The unobstructed interior and full dressing flexibility make frame tents the default for high-end Dubai weddings.
- Exhibition and trade show operators: Column-free interiors are essential for stand-based exhibitions.
- Hotels and resorts: Permanent or semi-permanent frame tent installations for outdoor dining, pool deck, and event space extension.
- Retail and brand activations: From market stalls (3x3m) to full pop-up retail environments (10x20m+).
- Construction and industrial: Equipment storage, covered work areas, and logistics shelter.
Frame Tent Buying Guide
1. Aluminum Grade Matters: 6061-T6 aluminum — which we use — has a yield strength of approximately 276 MPa. Lower-grade alloys used in cheaper imports look identical but bend under load conditions that 6061-T6 handles without issue. Ask for the alloy grade specification from any supplier you are evaluating.
2. Anchoring on Hard Surfaces: Frame tents on hard surfaces require ballast weights or concrete anchor blocks. A 10x20m tent in an exposed location may require several tones of total ballast. Make sure your supplier provides a specific anchoring specification for your site and tent size — not just a general guideline.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q1. How much does a frame tent cost in Dubai?
A. Frame tents range from AED 3,500 for a basic 3x3m unit to AED 80,000+ for large 20x40m+ configurations. Price depends on size, frame material, fabric specification, and accessories. We quote within 24 hours.
Q2. Can frame tents be used on rooftops?
A. Yes, with a structural assessment of the rooftop load capacity and wind exposure. We handle these assessments and have supplied rooftop frame tent installations at several Dubai commercial and hospitality properties.
Q3. What is the difference between aluminum and steel frame tents?
A. Aluminum frame tents are lighter (easier to transport and erect), corrosion-resistant, and sufficient for most event applications. Steel frames are heavier-duty, used for large industrial spans or permanent installations where additional structural rigidity is needed. We can advise on which is appropriate for your specific use case.
Q4. Do you offer custom sizes?
A. Yes. Custom widths and non-standard configurations are available with 4–6 weeks lead time. Standard width ranges cover most requirements, but we accommodate specific dimensional needs for unusual sites.
